Maria Jose Arango, born in Panama in 2001, is a performance designer currently based in London. She started her artistic path as a ballet and contemporary dancer, performing both in Panama and abroad. This experience made her a disciplined and detail-oriented artist with a continuous desire to explore new forms of expression.
In 2021, Maria Jose relocated to London to pursue a degree in Theatre Design at Wimbledon College of Arts, where she graduated in 2024. Her creations blend various mediums, often incorporating the human body as a focal point. Her dance background gives her work a distinctive sense of fluidity and rhythm.
Maria Jose enjoys reimagining traditional narratives, challenging them through play. Growing up in a close-knit community in Panama, she values collaboration and believes strongly in the power of collective effort.
